This is an extract from my latest and fourth book, The Anxious Entrepreneur. Here are 10 Quotes to Help You Deal with Worry and Anxiety or Quotes For Anxiety.
Quotes For Anxiety
The following are some of my favourite quotes which, I believe, more or less speak to that anxiety defeats creativity and also that creativity can defeat anxiety.
“Worrying does not take away tomorrow’s troubles. It takes away today’s peace” -Randy Armstrong.
To have peace today, you have to do the things that have meaning to you and help you to fulfil a part of you.
If your passion is to sing, but you work at a call centre, sing in the morning or after work – everyday or any number of days in the week.
I have learned that it is more meaningful if such things are recorded and shared. If you are a poet, record yourself in the form of writing, audio or video; then publish to the world. This is how one gets to be a creator; become one with the creators of the world and share these creations with the world like creations are meant to be shared.
“Think outside the box”- Popular metaphor. You can’t think out of the box while you are in the box. Get out of the box.
What this also means, I believe is this; take a break to refresh yourself so as to have a clear mind.
Solutions are not in solutions, but in connecting things in the world with the problem. Just as a walk removes you from the pain of the problem, it settles your mind and gives you fresher perspectives and ideas on how to handle things going forward.
Do these often; take a walk, run, watch a movie, drink beer with friends, chat to a stranger, etc.
“Some of us think holding on makes us strong; but sometimes it is letting go.” -Herman Hesse.
We sometimes think that boring down worry on a challenge, or a problem, helps us keep focus on finding a solution. It is not true, it only worsens our tension.
Take a walk, chill out. Let go, even if it is only for a couple of times during the day.
“My need to solve the problem, is the problem” –Unknown.
Actually it is.
This Unknown fella has composed a good number of great quotes.
“No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it” -Albert Einstein.
Stressing out is a problem. You can’t de-stress by stressing some more.
There are some problems we should welcome, called ‘creative process problems’, as opposed to ‘natural problems’ like the passing of a loved one.
A creative process problem for example, is the mishaps in the running of a business. Had a choice to run a business not been made, they would not be there. They are good and positive, because glitches come with any process to achieve anything. Let’s celebrate them. Isn’t it better to have problems with the things you love, than with the things you don’t?
All of this is easier said than done as the human fabric likes dwelling on a ‘half empty glass’ perspective rather than ‘half full’. But, pondering on the mechanics of this text, it might give solace and a fresher perspective to grind-on happier.
“When we give ourselves the chance to let go of all our tension, the body’s natural capacity to heal itself can begin to work.” -Nhat Hanh.
Halleluiah!
“The creative process is a process of surrender, not control.”-Julia Cameron.
Zone out of that anxiety; take a chill or do a casual activity.
“One thing I’ve learned about life is that if you really let go, it’s just a joy ride.” Ricky Williams.
So enjoy!
